Wellness Center awards early bird prize for fall fitness program
2:50 p.m., Aug. 28, 2003--Kathleen Bieker, assistant dean of UDs Parallel Program in Dover, is the early bird registration winner in the Employee Wellness Center's Pathways to Wellness program.
Bieker won two tickets, donated by UD's athletics program, to the Oct. 4 UD/William and Mary football game. She won the prize in a random drawing from registrations by nearly 200 employees who met the Aug. 26 early bird deadline.
The final registration deadline is Monday, Sept. 8, for the eight-week fitness program, which begins Thursday, Sept. 14. Participants will receive a log on which to chart their fitness progress and get credit for each day they do at least 30 minutes of physical activity, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. They also can earn extra credit for each completed weekly wellness activity.
Employees and retirees enrolled in the program are eligible for a chance to win a two-night weekend stay in Annapolis, Md., partially funded by UNIGLOBE Travel, Charlie B. Travels and Red Carpet Travel Agency, which can be used within six months after the end of the program.
Other incentive prizes include a mug, a self-care manual or a flashlight, depending on the level of achievement.
Incentive prizes add value to our programs and help keep employees motivated to participate in activities that improve their quality of life," Linda Smith, Wellness Center program coordinator, said.
Employees still have time to register for this popular program. For more information and to register, visit [www.udel.edu/wellness] or call 831-8388.
