Diabetes screening blood test offered Oct. 29
11:30 a.m., Oct. 20, 2003--Space remains for UD’S Employee Wellness Center's upcoming Diabetes Screening from 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29, in 310 Gore Hall.
Marianne Carter, director of UD’s Employee Wellness Center, said anyone who is overweight or has a family history of diabetes could be at risk. “Unfortunately, many people are walking around with it and don’t even know it.”
No fasting is required. The test takes less than five minutes and results are immediate. It’s a quick finger-stick test to determine your blood-sugar level. Individuals with a reading greater than 140mg/dl will be referred to their doctor for further testing.
The cost is 10 Wellness dollars. Full-time employees receive 50 Wellness dollars to use from July 1-June 30, 2004.
