Newark Police investigate Jan. 28 robbery at Delaware Circle

9:39 a.m., Jan. 29, 2004--Newark Police are investigating the robbery of three persons that occurred about 6 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28, in the 300 block of Delaware Circle.

Two men and a woman who is a UD student were outside talking when a young man about 23 to 28, with a scarf over his face, approached them and demanded money. When they did not respond immediately, the suspect drew a handgun and struck one of the men in the face. The three then turned their money over to the suspect, who ordered them to walk away from him or he would shoot them. The suspect left the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim who was hit suffered a contusion under the left eye but refused medical treatment.
