April 3 concert features winning student musicians

10:51 a.m., March 25, 2004--UD’s Department of Music will showcase the winners of the 2004 Concerto/Aria Competition in a recital at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 3, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.

The concert will feature UD marimbist Adam Baumol from Teaneck, N.J., performing “Concerto in A minor” by J.S. Bach; oboist Jason Bostron from Sykesville, Md., performing “Concerto for Oboe
and Strings” by Alessandro Marcello; pianist Airee Cha from Newark, performing “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin; flutist Lauren Heller from Burke, Va., performing “Concerto for Flute and Strings” by Malcolm Arnold; soprano Monica Farmer from Washington, D.C., performing “Durch Zartlichkeit und Schmeicheln” from “Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail” by Wolfgang A. Mozart and “Ah, tardai troppoŠO lucecdi quest’anima” from “Linda di Chamounix” by Gaetano Donizetti; and clarinetist Matthew Leitsch from Wilmington, performing “First Concerto in F minor, Op. 73” by Carl Maria von Weber.

Admission is $10 for adults; $7 for seniors; and $3 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at the Trabant University Center or Bob Carpenter Center box offices on the UD campus.
