Cello and piano concert set April 8

5:05 p.m., April 6, 2004--Cellist Stephen Framil, visiting assistant professor, and UD piano accompanist Julie Nishimura will perform works by Chopin, Brahms, Prokofiev and Martinu in an 8 p.m. concert, Thursday, April 8, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.

Framil, who hails from Indiana University School of Music, is an active soloist and chamber musician whose 2003-04 season includes solo debut appearances with the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra in Hungary, the National Philharmonic of Moldova, the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, the Scottsdale Symphony Orchestra, the Redlands Symphony Orchestra and the Oltenia State Filarmonica in Romania.

Nishimura, a past recipient of a Delaware State Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship, has served 15 years as faculty accompanist at UD, where she also instructs sight-reading and accompanying/chamber music courses. Nishimura has performed in Delaware Symphony’s Chamber Music Series and Wilmington Music School’s Music Masters Series and will mark her 16th year as a guest artist with the Delaware Chamber Music Festival in June. She also is an active recital accompanist to members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Delaware Symphony and recently performed with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra in the Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in New York City. She will perform in OperaDelaware’s production of Menotti’s “The Medium” this spring.

Admission to the Framil-Nishimura concert is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $3 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at the Trabant University Center or Bob Carpenter Center box offices.
