Workshops provide career and business advice

10:29 a.m., March 23, 2004--MBNA Career Services Center is offering two workshops in April: “Dress for Success” and “How to Start Your Own Business.”

“Dress for Success” will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, in the Scrounge of the Perkins Student Center. The program will feature a fashion show of professional wear, plus tips and strategies for making a good impression during an interview. Research shows that the first four to nine minutes of an interview are important in getting hired and that appearance is an important factor in the decision-making process.

“How to Start Your Own Business” will be presented from 3-4 p.m., Wednesday, April 21, in 324A Purnell Hall, and will provide a roadmap for starting a business, which requires motivation, desire, talent and also research and planning. The program, sponsored by MBNA Career Services Center and the FORTUNE Program, will be facilitated by the Small Business Development Center.
