Hen lacrosse players Diana, Alrich honored by CAA

9:59 a.m., March 3, 2004--The Colonial Athletic Association has honored two University of Delaware lacrosse players, freshman midfielder Jenny Diana and senior attackman Matt Alrich.

Diana has been named the CAA Rookie of the Week in women’s lacrosse, and Alrich has been named the CAA Co-Player of the Week in men’s lacrosse.

Diana enjoyed an outstanding collegiate debut as she helped the Fightin’ Blue Hens defeat Mount St. Mary’s College 11-7 on Saturday. She scored two goals, had one assist, registered a team-high seven shots on goal and had three ground balls.

Alrich led the Hens to an 11-4 victory over Stony Brook on Saturday. He scored four goals, a career high, and assisted on two others.

Alrich has scored at least one goal in 18 straight games and leads the Hens with eight this season.

Alrich, who shared the honor with Tim Treubig of Hofstra University, was the third UD men’s lacrosse player to be recognized by the CAA this season. Last week, goalkeeper Chris Collins was the Player of the Week and Cam Howard was the Rookie of the Week.
