Blue & Gold Club winter menus sizzle

1:21 p.m., Jan. 15, 2004--UD’s Blue & Gold Club is celebrating the start of the new year with an array of menus in January and February ranging from the Chinese New Year to Bistro Night Buffet.

Patrons can help celebrate another cultural holiday by enjoying the “Chinese New Year” event set for 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 22. The menu includes egg drop soup, vegetable spring rolls, beef egg foo yung, pork with ginger sauce, red cook chicken, shrimp in chili sauce and more. The price is $19.95 for adults and $9.50 for children, 5-11.

The “Cooking Class-Spa Dinner Menu,” slated for 6-9 p.m., Monday, Jan. 26, includes poached sea bass in tomato, fennel and saffron sauce, Michigan white bean soup, salad and honey vanilla cheesecake. The price is $27.95 per person.

February kicks off with “Bistro Night Buffet,” scheduled from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5. Mustard braised chicken, roasted stuffed trout with Riesling buerre blanc, crispy potato galette, cassoulet and assorted breads, cheeses, pastries and desserts are on the menu. Prices are $19.95 for adults and $9.50 for children, 5-11.

“Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday Dinner” brings a taste of New Orleans to the Blue & Gold Club from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 24. The menu includes such Louisiana favorites as crawfish etouffee; okra, tomatoes and corn; seafood and sausage gumbo; mixed greens with blackened pecans; red beans and rice and a variety of desserts, including banana crème brulèe. Prices are $19.95 for adults and $9.50 for children, 5-11.

The Blue & Gold Club also offers “Member Sunday Brunch” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Jan. 25 and Feb. 15. Prices are $18.95 for adults and $9.50 for children, 5-11.

Winter hours are 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, and 5-8p.m., Thursday-Saturday. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres are featured Fridays from 4:30-6 p.m. in the Tavern, where dinner is served from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday.
