Time to get basketball season tickets

10:50 a.m., July 17, 2003--Although it may not seem like basketball weather, summer is the perfect time to order 2003-04 season tickets for what promises to be another exciting season of UD men’s and women’s basketball action at the Bob Carpenter Center.

Six new players have been added to the roster of the UD men’s team, led by coach David Henderson. Returning for a challenging Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) schedule will be last season’s top scorer for the Blue Hens, Mike Ames, and CAA conference assist leader Mike Slattery, both second-team CAA preseason all-star selections.

In its second CAA season under coach Tina Martin, the women’s basketball team tied for the conference title in regular season competition en route to posting a 22-9 overall record and a postseason playoff berth for the third consecutive year. Among those helping to provide plenty of hoop action at The Bob is Tiara Malcom. The junior forward, who led the Blue Hens, averaged 13.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game last season. Malcolm was named a first team selection on the preseason CAA women’s all-star squad.

Contributing to the excitement on and off the court at The Bob are the UD pep band, cheerleaders, dance team and that perennial crowd favorite YoUDee.

Season ticket packages can be purchased at the Delaware Field House season ticket office, or by calling 831-2257. Ticket packages range from $60-$210. UD employees can pay through payroll deduction.

Delaware Diamond members, who have first priority to purchase available season tickets, should contact the season ticket office by Friday, July 18, if they want to exercise this option. Exact placement of tickets will be at the discretion of the athletics program.

Single game tickets go on sale Saturday, Nov. 1. For more information, or to order season tickets, call 831-2257.
