UD baseball team drops doubleheader to UNCW
The Fightin Blue Hens fell 10-4 in the first game and 2-0 in the second. The third game of the weekend series scheduled Sunday was washed out. UD, which fell to 13-14 overall and 0-5 in the CAA, has now lost 10 straight games. The Hens will host Temple University at 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 7, at Bob Hannah Stadium. They will face the Owls again one week later in the first round of the Liberty Bell Classic, a tournament featuring collegiate teams from the Delaware Valley. In the first game Saturday, UD junior Kelly Buber hit a two-run home run in the third inning to tie the game 3-3 before UNC Wilmington broke things open with five runs in the next two innings. UDs Dave Harden had three hits and a run batted in, and Todd Davison had two hits and an RBI. Scott Rambo suffered the loss for the Hens, allowing 10 hits and eight earned runs in five innings of work. In the second game, Zach Kimball tossed a two-hit shutout for UNC Wilmington.
