Dave Harden scores for UD in a 9-6 loss to Maryland.
9:56 a.m., April 1, 2004--The University of Delaware baseball team will host the University of North Carolina Wilmington in a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series this weekend.

Games are scheduled at 3 p.m., Friday, and at 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, at Bob Hannah Stadium.

UD is 13-12 overall, 0-3 in the conference and has lost eight straight games.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens lost 9-6 to the University of Maryland on Tuesday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium, stranding 14 base runners.

The Terrapins scored single runs in each of the first five innings and led throughout the game.

Down 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth, the Hens cut the lead to 4-1 when left fielder Bryan Hagerich singled home right fielder Dave Harden.

Maryland scored again in the top of the fifth and UD answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning when center fielder Brent Rogers scored on a fielder’s choice by Harden.

UD scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 5-4 game. Third baseman Ryan Graham reached on a throwing error that scored catcher Brian Valichka. Rogers then doubled to center to score Valichka.

Maryland regained its three-run lead in the top of the seventh and stretched the lead to 9-4 in the top of the ninth.

UD scored twice in the bottom of the ninth as Valichka scored on a fielder’s choice and Graham scored on an RBI double by Rogers.
