Argentine photo, poetry exhibit in Georgetown Nov. 17-26 The exhibition, which showcases the photographs of Argentine photojournalist Silvina M. Frydlewsky, also will be complemented by a theme-related panel discussion on Thursday, Nov. 20, entitled Politics, Poetry and Photography: Perspectives on the Crisis and Culture in Argentina. The 7 p.m. forum will be held in Room 529 of the Carter Partnership Center and will feature John Deiner, UD professor of political science and international relations; Gladys Ilarregui, UD professor of foreign languages and literatures; and Priscilla Smith, UD professor of art. A reception after the forum will give audience members a chance to meet all three speakers. Frydlewskys photographs capture the devastating effects of economic collapse on Argentine society and the beauty of Buenos Aries. Frydlewsky directs the photography department at the weekly Buenos Aires magazine La Primera and is a photographic correspondent for The Washington Post and several Latin American publications. She also serves as an instructor of photojournalism at the Andy Goldstein School of Creative Photography in Buenos Aires. The exhibit recently completed a 12-day run in the Perkins Gallery of the Perkins Student Center at the University of Delaware in Newark on Oct. 24. Both the exhibit and panel discussion are free and open to the public. For more information, visit [www.udel.edu/buenosaires].
