Acclaimed novelist to read from his works 11:30 a.m., April 29, 2004--Noted author Christopher Tilghman will read from his work at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, in 127 Memorial Hall. A reception will follow when he will be available to sign books. Tilghman also will announce the awards for the best students work in Caesura, the Universitys literary magazine. The event, sponsored by the English department, is free and open to the public. Tilghman will read from his short story collections, In a Fathers Place and The Way People Run, and his novels, Masons Retreat, which has been acclaimed here and abroad, and the forthcoming Roads of the Heart. Tilghmans short fiction has appeared in The New Yorker and has been selected three times for Best American Short Stories. Among his honors are fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the Massachusetts Artists Foundation, as well as the Whiting Writers Award and the Ingram Merrill Fellowship.
