Silent auction highlights faculty work, benefits students 5:15 p.m., March 30, 2004--A silent auction featuring work by faculty in UDs Department of Fine Arts and Visual Communications will be held from 4-8 p.m., Friday, April 2, in the University Gallery at Old College. Now in its second year, this auction, which last year raised more than $6,000, will showcase selected faculty works and raise money for merit-based scholarships for UD art students. The auction coincides with the annual Visual Arts Faculty Exhibition, which runs March 30-April 11, and a retrospective show by Larry Holmes, which will be on view from March 30-May 9, both in the University Gallery. A special sneak preview for students and the general public will be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 30. Works for auction include The silent auction on April 2 will begin at 4 p.m. with a retirement party for Larry Holmes and opening remarks by Mark Huddleston, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Refreshments will be served. The University Gallery is located on the second floor of Old College at the corner of Main Street and North College Avenue. For more information, call 831-2244.
