Three Fightin’ Blue Hens named to All-America team

Shawn Johnson
11:21 a.m., Dec. 16, 2003--University of Delaware senior defensive lineman Shawn Johnson and senior offensive lineman Jason Nerys have been named to The Sports Network's 2003 All-America first team, it was announced Monday.

UD senior quarterback Andy Hall was named to the second team.

Johnson, the 2003 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year, enters Friday's NCAA Division I-AA title game against Colgate University atop the conference in sacks (13) and tackles for loss (25.5).

Jason Nerys

The Buck Buchanan Award finalist has collected 73 tackles while anchoring a defense that ranks second in the Atlantic 10 in both rushing defense (118.9 yards per game) and scoring defense (16.5 points per game).

Nerys, who was named to the All-Atlantic 10 first team for his play this season, spearheads a Fightin’ Blue Hens offensive line that has led the way for a conference-best 39 rushing touchdowns while averaging 210.5 yards per game on the ground.

Andy Hall

Hall, the 2003 Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, is a finalist for the Walter Payton Award presented annually to the outstanding offensive player in NCAA Division I-AA. Hall has completed a school-record 222 of his 358 passes for 2,581 yards, along with 23 touchdowns. The Cheraw, S.C., native has also rushed for 674 yards and eight touchdowns.
