Lenhoff to deliver inaugural lecture March 2
The lecture, which will be followed by a reception in the Purnell Hall lobby, is free and open to the public. Currently serving as director of the National Institutes of Health-funded Center of Biomedical Research Excellence in Structural and Functional Genomics at UD, Lenhoff has research interests that include applied protein biophysics, separation processes and colloid and interface science. A member of the UD faculty since 1984, Lenhoff also has served as a visiting research fellow at the University of Melbourne in Australia and at Johannes-Gutenberg Universität in Germany, and he was visiting professor at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. The author of more than 80 articles in refereed journals, Lenhoff serves on the editorial advisory boards of the Journal of Colloid and Interface Science and Biotechnology and Bioengineering. Lenhoff, who grew up in South Africa, has received a National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator Award and an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship. He also is a fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineers and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. After receiving his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering at the University of Cape Town, Lenhoff earned his masters and doctoral degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Gore professorship honors the Gore family, including UD trustee Robert W. Gore 59, Sarah I. Gore 76M and Genevieve W.
