Youngsters have field day with fitness

Former Lab School kindergartner Hannah enjoys life in the fast lane during ACES Day.
4:48 p.m., May 5, 2004--Young students from The College School and UD’s Preschool/Kindergarten Lab School took part in a three-hour “All Children Exercising Simultaneously” event on Wednesday, May 5.

Funded by a grant from the University in cooperation with the Delaware Division of Public Health, the event, which was held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Lab School playground and on Academy Field, focused on fostering physical fitness and sound exercise habits.

Structured activities included physical education games, fitness circuits with tot-sized treadmills and bench presses and cool-down centers with light dumbbells and stretch mats.

Tree-climbing, bubble-blowing and impromptu games of tag rounded out the day of outdoor fun.
