International Travel Awards announced

4:35 p.m., Nov. 10, 2003--The Center for International Studies (CFIS) has awarded International Travel Awards (ITA) to eight UD faculty members to support their attendance at international conferences between Oct. 1, 2003, and Jan. 31, 2004. All awards were in the amount of $500.

The awardees and their destinations are:

  • James Hawk, professor of plant and soil sciences, Mexico;
  • Sally Bould, professor of sociology and criminal justice, Luxembourg;
  • James Whitson, associate professor of education, People’s Republic of China;
  • Alice Ba, assistant professor of political science and international relations, Singapore;
  • Slobodan Jaric, associate professor of health and exercise sciences, Greece;
  • Judith Herrman, instructor, Department of Nursing, Canada;
  • Satoshi Tomioka, assistant professor of linguistics, France; and
  • Renee Hayes, assistant professor of education, United Kingdom.

The International Travel Award (ITA) program has three annual application deadlines during the academic year at the end of September, January and May.
