Tennis falls to St. Joe's

Sanjay Khindri won at No. 2 singles.
10:55 a.m., March 20, 2003--The University of Delaware got victories from the top two singles spots but dropped the other four matches and lost 4-2 to host St. Joseph's University in a non-league tennis match played Wednesday afternoon, March 19.

Delaware's Jon Tully posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over Frank Velazquez at No. 1 singles, and No. 2 singles player Sanjay Khindri was a 6-3, 6-4 winner over Jimmy Holland, but it wasn't enough as the Hens lost their second straight match to fall to 7-8.

St. Joseph's, which won three singles matches in straight sets, improved to 6-5 with their second straight victory. The Hawks won the only doubles match played as Holland and A.J. Garabedian downed Tully and Adam Liebman 8-0. The other two doubles matches were halted by darkness.

Tully improved to 8-12 on the season as he downed Velazquez (14-9) while Khindri improved to 6-9 with the win over Holland (16-10).
