At UD, Seitz will lead the statewide educational programs of Cooperative Extension, which include agriculture, family and consumer science, 4-H youth development, community development, horticulture and more.

“We are delighted that Jan Seitz has joined us," Robin Morgan, dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, said. “Dr. Seitz’ unique skills and experiences will facilitate our efforts to expand Cooperative Extension and to create partnerships between Cooperative Extension and other entities with shared missions both within and outside the University.”

At the University of Illinois, Seitz had responsibility for the direction and long-range program development of the Illinois 4-H program. During her nearly six years as director there, enrollment of youth and adult volunteers increased from 209,000 to more than 412,000.

Seitz spent her first weeks on the job at UD traveling throughout the state, listening to the needs, concerns and ideas of extension and college personnel in each county.
