PTTP presents Brecht's provocative parable

3:25 p.m., Feb. 21, 2003--UD’s Professional Theatre Training Program will present Bertolt Brecht’s “The Good Person of Szechwan” starting Friday, March 7, in Hartshorn Hall.

Joshua Browns as Wang, the water-seller, and Megan Noble as Shen Te (the "Good Person" of the title).

Brecht’s provocative parable examines the idea that in an unjust society good can only survive by means of evil. Three gods decide that the only truly good person on Earth is a kind but penniless prostitute named Shen. They present her with a gift of money, with which she purchases a tobacco shop and discovers the many disasters that can befall a business owner.

“The Good Person of Szechwan” can be seen at 7:30 p.m., March 7, 8 and 15. Matinee performances are set for 12:30 p.m. on March 8, 9 and 15.

Ticket prices range from $7 to $17. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 831-2204.
