3:35 p.m., Feb. 19, 2003-- Fleda Brown, UD professor of English and poet laureate for the state of Delaware, will read from her newest book of poetry, “Breathing In, Breathing Out,” at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, in 111 Memorial Hall.

Brown has won many awards for poetry, including the 2001 Porter Fund Literary Prize for poetry and the Kesstrel Writing Award for her “Graceland” poetry series.

Brown’s poetry has appeared in many journals, including Poetry, American Poetry Review, The Kenyon Review and The Southern Review. Other books of poetry include “Fishing with Blood” (1988), “Do Not Peel the Birches” (1993) and “The Devil’s Child” (1999). She was named Delaware’s poet laureate in 2002.
