Jan. 8, 2003—Betty Carey Paul, who graduated from the University of Delaware in 1943 with a degree in home economics, died Dec. 22.

While a UD undergraduate during World War II, Ms. Paul was named “War Bond Queen” in a contest among American colleges.

Ms. Paul enjoyed a varied career, including stints as a chemist at Hercules Powder Co. in Wilmington, a high school teacher in Laurel, Del., a consultant with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and a real estate salesperson.
