Hen men's lacrosse falls in double OT

Xander Ritz dished out four assists and scored a goal.
11:15 a.m., April 7, 2003--Sacred Heart University sophomore Robert Bielawski rifled a shot into the net just 25 seconds into the second overtime period for a 10-9 victory over the University of Delaware in men’s lacrosse Saturday night, April 5, at Rullo Stadium.

The loss was UD’s eighth straight in Colonial Athletic Association play. The Fightin’ Blue Hens (5-6, 0-2 CAA) will try to bounce back with a conference game at Hofstra University at 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 11.

Hofstra (5-4, 1-1 CAA) is led by senior attack Jim Femminella, who has 21 goals and five assists, and senior attack Joe Kostolansky, with 18 goals and 14 assists.

Sacred Heart (5-4, 1-2 CAA) snapped a two-game losing streak as it rallied from a 9-6 deficit with just over seven minutes left to play to send the game into overtime. Eric Perez and and Chris Swier each scored two goals as the Pioneers downed the Hens for the second straight season.

Delaware appeared to have the game in hand when Bob Meunier scored with 11:48 left in regulation to give the Hens a 9-6 lead. However, Sacred Heart rallied to tie the game in regulation and send it into overtime.
