UD Media Services' film wins international recognition

4:00 p.m., March 12, 2003--“Whispers of Wisdom From A Thousand Souls,” a film produced by UD Media Services, won a finalists certificate in the prestigious New York Festivals, an international competition that honors “excellence in communications media which touches the hearts and minds of readers, listeners and viewers worldwide.”

Lonnie Hearn, director of IT-media services, and Robert Diiorio, video producer, put the final touches on their award-winning film.

The film, detailing the Paul R. Jones Collection of African-American Art, won in the industrial film and video productions, nonprofit fund-raising category. Cited for the award were Lonnie Hearn, director of media services, who wrote, produced and directed the film, and Robert Diiorio, video producer, who edited the work.

Founded in 1957 as an international awards competition designed primarily to reward outstanding achievements in nonbroadcast media, in the course of its first 20 years The New York Festivals achieved pre-eminence in the area of industrial and educational film and video.

New fields of competition have been added as technology expands and
the New York Festivals experienced exponential expansion, from 1,000 entries in 1979 to 16,000 entries in all media in 2001.

Industry acceptance and participation are symbolized by the festivals’ prestigious Board of Distinguished Judges and Advisers, which is a veritable "Who’s Who" of world leaders in communications.
