Gil Johnson wins ACUI leadership award

3:00 p.m., June 19, 2003--William A. (Gil) Johnson, associate director of student centers at the University of Delaware, recently received a Volunteer Leadership Award from the Association of College Unions International (ACUI).

Johnson won the award for his work on the organization’s facilities and operations council, which provides firsthand information on student center facilities to members worldwide.

“The Association of College Unions International has honored a dedicated and loyal individual. Gil has been actively involved in the ACUI and is known for his ‘get it done’ attitude and humanitarian spirit. The award is well-deserved,” Marilyn Prime, director of student centers, said.

Johnson, a UD alum, joined the student center staff in 1996. He is responsible for events services and oversees Greek housing. Previously he worked in UD’s public safety department.

ACUI, a nonprofit organization founded in 1914, brings together college union and student activities professionals from hundreds of schools worldwide.
