Delaware Diamonds receive ticket, parking preference

4:00 p.m., March 11, 2003--The University of Delaware is thanking members of the Delaware Diamonds Society, those loyal and dedicated alumni and friends who donate $1,000 or more annually in support of the University’s academic and athletic programs, by offering them preference when ordering premium seating and parking for 2003 Fightin’ Blue Hens home football games.

Delaware Diamonds who do not currently have tickets and parking are invited to purchase them by calling 831-2257 by Friday, March 21.

According to UD Director of Athletics Edgar Johnson, the offer of preferential seating and parking “is a way we can thank UD’s most active and consistent supporters.”

Johnson said that in an increasingly competitive environment in both the Atlantic 10 Football Conference and the Colonial Athletic Association, additional scholarships and support are required for UD to remain competitive and, as a result, “special attention will be given to our most generous supporters.”

The 2003 football season will kick off Saturday, Sept. 6, when UD battles The Citadel on Tubby Raymond Field at Delaware Stadium. There will be seven home games.

In 2002, UD finished second nationally in attendance per game in NCAA Division 1-AA, and athletics officials are expecting large crowds again this season as Head Coach K.C. Keeler enters his second year at the helm.
