UD's Mike Slattery named to CAA All-Academic Team
 

9:30 a.m., March 7, 2003--University of Delaware sophomore point guard Mike Slattery has been named to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Academic Team.

Slattery was recognized by the conference when it announced the annual men’s basketball awards on Thursday, March 6.

Slattery has averaged 11.1 points per game for the Fightin’ Blue Hens. He leads the team in assists, with 165, and has 50 steals.

University of North Carolina Wilmington senior guard Brett Blizzard was named the CAA Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Blizzard was joined on the All-CAA first team by senior guard Willie Taylor of Virginia Commonwealth University, junior forward Adam Hess of the College of William & Mary, senior forward Ricardo Marsh of Old Dominion University and senior center Robert Battle of Drexel University.

Battle also was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Year and received the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award.

Freshman forward Nick George of Virginia Commonwealth was named the Rookie of the Year and Brad Brownell of UNC Wilmington was named Coach of the Year.
