Sept. 12 lecture explores World Trade Center rebuilding options
Sept. 11, 2002--As America observes the first anniversary of the events of Sept. 11, 2001, a heated debate centers on how to proceed with the rebuilding of the World Trade Center area. That issue will be the focus of Next Steps, Hard Choices: Rebuilding the World Trade Center, a lecture by Craig Whitaker, of Craig Whitaker Architects and New York University, from 12:15-2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, in 187 Graham Hall. The presentation is the first in a fall lecture series sponsored by the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy. Whitaker is coauthor of Next Steps, Hard Choices: A Proposal for Lower Manhattan, a study identifying and assessing the opportunities and problems in planning for the rebuilding of the World Trade Center area. A consultant on major public works projects in New York, Whitaker has published extensively on architectural and design policy issues. Other lectures in the series include:
