The public is invited to attend any time between 4:00 and 7:00 pm. The Route 40 Corridor 20-Year Transportation Plan, adopted in June 2000, identified a number of potential improvements to Route 40 between Route 896 and Route 1. These include: * widening * sidepaths * interchanges at Route 896 and Route 7 * an overpass of the Norfolk Southern rail line * and, a number of intersection improvements Proposed improvements in this area would address congestion and provide additional mobility choices for various modes of transportation in the Corridor. The purpose of this workshop is to discuss the need for the potential improvements and present preliminary information on existing natural and cultural resources in the study area. Additional workshops will be held next year as various widening and interchange alternatives are analyzed and evaluated. The goal of this process is to identify a preferred alternative for all improvements in the Corridor by the end of 2002. Interested persons are invited to express their views in writing, giving reasons for support of, or in opposition to the proposed project. Comments will be received during the workshop or can be mailed to DelDOT's Office of External Affairs, PO Box 778, Dover, DE 19903. This location is accessible to persons having disabilities.
