Delawares 19 public school teachers of the year, 10 of whom are UD alumni, were honored with a reception on May 7 at the Presidents House, hosted by President David Roselle and his wife Louise.
The event was instituted by Roselle in 1992 both to celebrate the teachers of the year and to underscore the importance of teaching excellence in grades K-12.
We recognize teaching excellence among our own faculty here at the University, Roselle said, and its a pleasure to salute these fine teachers for their outstanding achievements and contributions to education in Delaware.
He also presented each district teacher of the year with a certificate of appreciation from the University.
UD vice presidents and deans joined Roselle and other guests in congratulating the educators honored at the reception. Afterward, Tim Barnekov, acting dean of the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy, hosted a dinner for the teachers and their guests.
