Red Hat Society's goal is to have fun

For women in their fifties, who have worked in and outside the home, done volunteer work, supported good causes and organizations, raised families, carpooled, scouted and PTAed, there is a new UD organization on campus--the Red Hat Society, whose goals are fun and a good time with contemporaries.

There is only one regulation—members must wear red hats and purple outfits at meetings. Those who are slightly younger than 50 may join, but they wear pink hats and lavender outfits.

The organization meets four times a year. The first meeting was an October dinner at the Blue and Gold Club, with 19 charter members attending. Coming up in January is high tea at the Christiana Hilton.

Officers are Suzanne Dohl and Susan Phipps, both from the provost’s office, Gwen Davis and Joan Odell, both from the University secretary’s office, and Dianna DiLorenzo, Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Programs and Planning.

For information, call Davis at 831-2113 or at 738-0827, or send e-mail to [gdavis@udel.edu]. To visit the web site of the national Red Hat Society, go to [www.redhatsociety.com].
