First UD Poetry Slam will feature Marc Smith

The first University of Delaware Poetry Slam will be held at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 13, in Multipurpose Room A of the Trabant University Center.

The event will feature Marc Smith, creator of the poetry slam who appeared in the movie “Slam Nation.”

Registration for performers will begin at 6 p.m. and will be limited to the first 20 people. There is a prize of $300 for the winner and $100 for the first runner-up.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will follow the national slam rules, which can be found at [www.poetryslam.com].

A reception will follow at the Home Grown Café on Main Street.

The slam is sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta, the English honors society; the Commuter and Off-Campus Organization; the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Student Union; Stimulating Prose Ideas and Theories; and the Home Grown Café.
