Stand-Up Opera kicks off Parents & Family Weekend

Sept. 27, 2002--A unique mix of comedy and classical music blended with a cabaret sensibility promises to get Parents & Family Weekend off to a light-hearted start at 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25, when Delaware native B.J. Ward returns home with “Stand-Up Opera,” her one-woman show accompanied by live piano.

B. J. Ward

The Los Angeles Times calls B.J. Ward’s “Stand-Up Opera,” a "soprano with shtick or arias with attitude." An acclaimed actress and singer, B.J. Ward is a former member of The Groundlings comedy troupe, has appeared on network television in shows such as “Mad About You” and “Frasier,” among others, and is the voice of Betty Rubble on “The Flintstones” and Velma on “Scooby Doo,” in addition to hundreds of other cartoon voices and commercials.

Three days of fun and games and entertainment are planned for Parents and Family Weekend, Oct. 25-27.
