Busta Rhymes, Nickelback will perform at The Bob

Rapper Busta Rhymes and the MTV Campus Invasion Tour, featuring Nickelback, will be visiting the University of Delaware in April for two concerts at The Bob.

Busta Rhymes will perform at 8 p.m., Sunday, April 21, at the Bob Carpenter Sports/Convocation Center. Tickets cost $20 for UD students with ID card and $25 for the general public, and will go on sale March 26 at University box offices at The Bob and at the Trabant University Center.

Nickelback will headline the MTV Campus Invasion Tour concert at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 25, at The Bob. Also on the main bill are Default and Injected. Starsailor will play the tour’s MTV2 stage.

Tickets cost $20 for UD students with ID and $25 for the general public, and will go on sale March 22 at University box offices.

Tickets for both shows also will be available by phone through Ticketmaster, 302-984-2000, and at Ticketmaster outlets. A convenience charge may apply.

Busta Rhymes began rapping at age 12 and first gained attention when he won a rap contest sponsored by Chuck D and Public Enemy. He has worked with singing stars Mary J. Blige and TLC and appeared in the movies “Higher Learning,” “Strapped” and “Who’s the Man?”

Rhymes has been touring to promote his album “Genesis.”

This is the sixth year for the Campus Invasion Tour and not the first time it has stopped at UD. The tour last visited in November 1999, when the featured bands were Garbage and Lit.

The 2002 tour will begin April 4 at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. It will visit the University of Illinois on April 20 and the State University of New York at Potsdam on April 23 before arriving in Newark.

After the UD date, the tour will move on to the University of Massachusetts on April 26 and close at fellow Colonial Athletic Association institution Virginia Commonwealth University on May 1.

Nickelback will headline the Campus Invasion Tour concert. The Canadian band is made up of Chad Kroeger, Ryan Peake, Mike Kroeger and Ryan “Nik” Vikedal.

Nickelback has been touring to promote its multiplatinum album “Silver Side Up,” which was released last fall and which features such songs as “Never Again,” “How You Remind Me,” “Money Bought” and “Just For.”

The tour’s supporting bands are Default, which is also from Canada; Injected, which hails from Atlanta; and Starsailor, which is from England.
