UD’s basketball floor has new look

The Bob Carpenter Center basketball court has a new look this season. The floor was sent away to Michigan to be refurbished after nine years of use. It also was repainted to reflect UD’s new membership in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

The surface, which was used for the 1992 NCAA Division I men's basketball Final Four in the Metrodome in Minneapolis, was installed at UD in 1992.

According to Suzanne Morris, Facilities Planning and Construction, Horner Flooring was the original manufacturer and the company presented the best overall job proposal for refurbishment and repainting based on cost and timing. By doing the work offsite, UD was able to use the facility during the five-week period needed to complete the work.
