MTV to invade campus April 25
The MTV Campus Invasion 2K2, featuring the popular rock band Nickelback, will visit the University of Delawares Bob Carpenter Sports/Convocation Center at 8 p.m., Thursday, April 25. Also on the main bill are Default and Injected. Starsailor will play the tours MTV2 stage outside the Bob at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $20 for UD students with ID and $25 for the general public, and are available at University box offices. Call 831-4012. Also, tickets are available by phone through Ticketmaster, 302-984-2000, and at Ticketmaster outlets. A convenience charge may apply. This is the sixth year for the Campus Invasion Tour and not the first time it has stopped at UD. The tour last visited in November 1999, when the featured bands were Garbage and Lit. The Campus Invasion Tour is a great way for us to directly connect our audience with great live music, Tina Exarhos, MTV senior vice president, said. We have put together an amazing line-up this year and are excited to give college students a chance to see some of todays hottest new bands. Nickelback will headline the Campus Invasion 2K2 concert. The Canadian band is made up of Chad Kroeger, Ryan Peake, Mike Kroeger and Ryan Nik Vikedal. Nickelback, with its hard rock style, has such hits as How You Remind Me and Too Bad. Joining them are Default, which, like Nickelback hails from Canada, and the Atlanta-based Injected. Default has a straight-ahead, riff-driven style. The bands current hit is Wasting My Time. Injected features unique surging rhythms and heavy rock melodies. Its current hit is Faithless. For the first time, Campus Invasion will feature an MTV2 stage that will highlight the no frills, melodic rock of the British band Starsailor, whose new album, Love is Here, is currently Handpicked by MTV2. Also, each Campus Invasion 2K2 stop includes an interactive Campus Invasion Expo. A tour DJ will get the party started and give students a chance to strut their stuff from noon to 4 p.m. at Harrington Beach, weather permitting. There will be a music performance area, where visitors can live out their personal rock n roll fantasies by learning to play keyboard, mixing music tracks, manipulating their vocals and performing on stage. They also can take home a CD of their performance. In a new music area, visitors can experience the latest in music-listening technology and check out the hottest new tracks, music videos and web sites. Plus, there will be plenty of giveaways and prizes. For more information, visit the MTV Campus Invasion 2K2 web site. The MTV Campus Invasion 2K2 concert is sponsored by the SCPAB. April 18, 2002 |
