'Best of Delaware' benefits March of Dimes

July 16, 2002--Tickets are now on sale for the March of Dimes’ 14th annual Best of Delaware party, to be held from 5-8:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 1, at the First USA Riverfront Arts Center, Wilmington.

The event brings together the winners of Delaware Today magazine's Best of Delaware Readers' Poll and Critics' Choice judging. The party, which attracted about 500 guests in 1989, now annually entertains more than 2,500.

Last year's event raised more than $115,000 for the March of Dimes. The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Every year in the state of Delaware, approximately 800 babies are born with low birth weight and approximately 125 babies die from complications associated with low birth weight.

The March of Dimes with its Saving Babies, Together campaign fights these statistics directly.

This year's event will showcase more than 75 vendors in categories including: new restaurant, steak, seafood, barbecue, romantic dining, gourmet pizza, salad, desserts and many more--all voted the Best of Delaware by the readers of Delaware Today, the presenting sponsor. Event partners are Catering by the Wood Co. and Mercedes Benz of Wilmington.

The entertainment line-up for the 2002 Best of Delaware Party includes JellyRoll, Jerry and the Juveniles, Delaware Symphony Orchestra and Jack Foreaker.

Advance tickets at $50 are available at the March of Dimes, Delaware Today, Boscov's and First USA Riverfront Arts Center ticket office. Tickets at the door will be $55.

For tickets or more information, call 302-225-1020 or 800-244-9255, or visit the Delaware Today web site at www.delawaretoday.com.
