3:45 p.m., Nov. 25, 2002--University of Delaware sophomore field hockey player Erica LaBar has been named to the third team of the 2002 STX/NFHCA Division I All-America squad.
LaBar led the Blue Hens in scoring with 31 points (11 goals and 9 assists) in 2002 after recording one goal and two assists as a redshirt freshman in 2001. She led Delaware in shots with 64 and also broke the school record for game-winning goals in a season with eight.
She becomes the 12th Blue Hen to earn All-America honors and the first since Jodi Byrd garnered NFHCA Second Team honors in 1998.
Earlier this year, LaBar was selected to the STX/NFHCA Mid-Atlantic Region First Team. Five fellow Blue Hensseniors Kelly Coyle and Kim Wagaman, juniors Jessica Breault and Jessi Balmer and sophomore Leah Geibwere selected to the Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team.
On the All-America third team, LaBar joins Jen Ahn (Harvard), Tara Bedard (Maine), Annebet Beerman (Michigan State), Elizabeth Black (Princeton), Kelly Concini (Penn State), Nora Feddersen (California-Berkeley), Lauren Henderson (UConn), Stephanie Johnson (Michigan), Timarie Legel (Penn State), Kate McDavitt (Harvard), Claire Miller (William & Mary), Molly Powers (Michigan), Lauren Powley (Maryland), Sanders (Louisville) and Liz Tutella (Holy Cross).

Delaware finished the 2002 season with a record of 10-10, including a 4-4 mark in its first season competing in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Blue Hens were defeated 4-1 by William & Mary in the first round of the CAA Tournament on Nov. 9.
