Sept. 4, 2002--Former University of Delaware wide receiver Jamin Elliott has survived his first National Football League training camp and made the roster of the Chicago Bears.
Elliott, a sixth round draft pick, is listed as the No. 3 wide receiver on the Bears depth chart, behind Marty Booker and David Terrell.
Elliott was the first UD football player drafted since 1987, when current Oakland Raiders quarterback Rich Gannon and defensive tackle Joe McGrail were selected.
A two-time All-Atlantic 10 Conference selection, Elliott finished third on UD's career lists for receptions (158), yards (3,068) and touchdowns (19). His 3,068 career receiving yards are also ninth on the conferences all-time receiving list.
During his 46-game career at Delaware, Elliott had 11 games with more than 100 yards receiving and caught four passes that went for 75 yards or longer. The native of Portsmouth, Va., caught at least one pass in each of his last 22 games at Delaware. In his senior season, Elliott caught 30 passes for 514 yards and three touchdowns.
Elliott, who starred in both football and track, was named UDs 2001-02 male athlete of the year.
