Attorney general's office sponsors free investment seminar at UD

Free "Delaware Investment Education Conferences" are being offered at three locations throughout the state, with the third and final session scheduled Saturday, May 4, at the University of Delaware.

The UD conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Clayton Hall. Keynote lunchtime speaker will be Charles Elson, Woolard Chair in Corporate Governance and director of the University's Center for Corporate Governance.

Ric Edelman, author of the best sellers "The Truth About Money," "Ordinary People, Extraordinary Wealth" and "The New Rules of Money," will be the featured speaker for the conference.

Also speaking will be Delaware Attorney General M. Jane Brady, Delaware Securities Commissioner James Robb and Ron Long, district administrator for the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The conference will include 10 small group sessions, with topics including "Mutual Funds," "Deferred Compensation" and "How to Enron-Proof Your Portfolio."

Conferences also are planned Wednesday, April 24, at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover and Thursday, May 2, at Sussex Central High School in Georgetown.

The conferences are funded through the Delaware Investor Protection Fund, which consists of fines and penalties assessed against violators of the Delaware Securities Act. Seating is limited. Call (302) 577-8930 for reservations.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Securities Division in the attorney general's office will host these informational sessions for Delaware investors.
