Aug. 7, 2002--Three University of Delaware ice hockey club players have been selected to compete for the U.S. collegiate national team in the 2003 World University Games to be held Jan. 16-26, 2003, in Tarvisio, Italy.
Two additional UD players were named alternates.
Chris Ferazzoli, Dan Howard and Bryan Reilly were named to the team, and Joe Bartlett and Adam Barbour were named alternates.
The players join Josh Brandwene, head coach of the Blue Hen ice hockey team, who was named a national team assistant coach earlier this year.
The players were selected during a tryout camp in Iowa featuring 75 of the top players in the American Collegiate Hockey Association, an organization of club hockey teams of which UD is a member.
Ferazzoli, a senior center from Floral Park, N.Y., was selected first-team 2002 ACHA All-American.
Howard, a senior left wing from Freehold, N.J., was a second-team 2002 ACHA All-American.
Reilly is a senior defenseman from Westbury, N.Y., who transferred to UD last year from Division I Sacred Heart.
Bartlett is a forward from Pittsburgh, and Barbour is a goaltender from Fairfax, Va. He was named second-team ACHA All-American in 2002.
