Georgia Tech's Hall will transfer to UD

University of Delaware football head coach K.C. Keeler announced Friday, April 26, that Georgia Tech backup quarterback Andy Hall will transfer to Delaware after the spring semester and will battle for the starting job this fall.

Hall, a 6-2, 208-pound sophomore from Cheraw, S.C., visited campus and signed a scholarship offer on April 25. He will complete the spring semester at Georgia Tech and will be in camp this summer to battle sophomore Mike Connor for the Blue Hen starting job.

"Andy fits in perfectly for what we are trying to do," said Keeler, who was named Delaware's head coach in March and who plans to institute a fast-break, no-huddle offense that will frequently use three and four wide receivers. "He is athletic, very intelligent and has a strong arm. We wanted to have some competition at the quarterback spot this fall that did not include the three freshmen we have coming in. We have that now. We are looking forward to having Andy on campus."

Hall, who also plans to play baseball at Delaware, although he did not compete in that sport at Georgia Tech, appeared in 10 games over the last two seasons for the Yellowjackets.

Over two seasons, he completed 19 of 43 passes for 299 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He threw for 133 yards against Navy and 129 yard against The Citadel in two wins this past fall and saw action in Georgia Tech's Seattle Bowl game against Stanford. He also rushed for 83 yards over the last two seasons.

Hall, who majored in management at Georgia Tech, enjoyed an outstanding prep career at Cheraw High School where he was rated the No. 2 quarterback and No. 9 prospect in the state of South Carolina. He threw for 692 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for 499 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior.

Connor, a 6-4, 210-pound sophomore from Wallingford, Pa., started the final four games of the season for the Blue Hens last season as a true freshman. The first true freshman to play quarterback for the Blue Hens since 1951, he threw for 580 yards and one touchdown as the Hens finished the year with a record of 4-6. Connor and sophomore walk-on Ian Hamilton are the only two quarterbacks on the UD roster this spring.

Delaware will close out four weeks of spring drills May 4 with the annual Blue-White game. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. in Delaware Stadium.
