11:15 a.m., Dec. 9, 2002--University of Delaware alumnus Rich Gannon continues to set NFL records this season as quarterback of the Oakland Raiders.
Gannon threw for 328 yards against the San Diego Chargers in a 27-7 victory on Sunday, Dec. 8, setting the league record for most 300-yard games in a season with 10.
Gannon is within reach of the record for most passing yards in a season, approaching the 5,084 by Dan Marino of the Miami Dolphins in 1984.
After Sundays victory, which raised Oaklands record to 9-4 and gave the Raiders sole possession of first place in the AFC West, Gannon has thrown for 4,205 yards with three games left to play.
He has thrown for more than 3,400 yards in each of his four years as starting quarterback for the Raiders.
Gannon still holds the UD record for most passes completed in a season, with 201 completions in 1986, and for consecutive passes without an interception, 150, also set in 1986. He had two 300-yard passing games for the Blue Hens that season.
Also, Gannon is third all-time in most yards passing in a season, with 2,795 in 1986, and most yards passing for a career, with 5,927. He had 462 career completions, second to Matt Nagy, with 502.
