FOX-TV to broadcast weather live from Scrounge Monday, Nov. 25

12:30 p.m., Nov. 21, 2002--Early birds and students who have pulled an all-nighter may want to drop by the Scrounge in the Perkins Student Center from 5:30-9 a.m., Monday, Nov. 25, to watch and perhaps participate in weather forecasts for FOX Philadelphia’s "Good Day, Philadelphia." (Originally planned for Nov. 12, the broadcast was rescheduled because of technical problems.) Coffee and doughnuts will be provided, courtesy of UD Dining Services.

Sue Serio

Weather forecaster Sue Serio will be broadcasting live from the Scrounge every 10 minutes from 5:30-6:30 a.m. and every 15 minutes from 6:30-9 a.m. Serio may involve students in the forecasts and will chat with them in-between broadcasts.

Serio serves as the weather anchor for the "FOX Morning News," which airs weekdays from 6–7 a.m. and for "Good Day Philadelphia," which airs weekdays 7 to 9 a.m.

Before joining the FOX team, Serio served as co-anchor of “WAKE-UP,” the top-rated morning show on WIVB-TV, a CBS affiliate, in Buffalo, N.Y. and she co-anchored the station's “News at Noon.” Before that, she worked at WHYY-TV 12 (PBS) in Philadelphia, where she was a weather anchor and feature reporter on the evening newscast.

Serio has hosted radio shows on WKSZ-FM and WMGK-FM Philadelphia and WBAL-AM in Baltimore.

She graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Towson State University. She started her career in radio there in 1977. A five-time Emmy nominee from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Serio won the academy’s 1994 Outstanding Individual Achievement Award for weathercaster. In June 1995, she received a certificate in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University.
