Barbara Curry selected state coordinator

Barbara Curry, educational development, has been named state coordinator for the Delaware Network of the American Council on Education/Office of Women in Higher Education (ACE/OWHE) Network.

The goal of OWHE is to establish a national network to identify women leaders in higher education; develop women’s leadership abilities; advance more women into leadership positions; and support the tenure of mid- and senior-level women administrators and educators.

At this time, Curry is organizing the Delaware Network with representatives from higher education and postsecondary institutions throughout the state.

“Our group is currently in the planning stage, looking at what is in place and what we can accomplish in terms of activities and projects that further the advancement of leadership of women in higher education,” she said.

Curry is the author of Women in Power: Pathways to Leadership in Education, which examines the lives and backgrounds of eight women who have served as college presidents and top administrators.

A graduate of Franklin and Marshall College with a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin and master’s and doctoral degrees from Harvard University, Curry joined the UD faculty in 1990.
