UD scientists, engineers featured on CN-8

Two University of Delaware marine scientists and two materials engineers will appear on “Newsmakers,” an interview show broadcast daily at 55 minutes past the hour on CN-8, channel 8 on Comcast Cable. Each of the four individual interviews will air three times a day.

Through Tuesday, Dec. 25, viewers can see Barbara Campbell, a researcher in the College of Marine Studies, discuss her role in Extreme 2001, a voyage deep into the Pacific Ocean that UD scientists led in October and which was broadcast internationally via the Internet.

Also airing this same week is an interview with Mei-Wei Tsao, research professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, who helped develop a portable detection platform that could provide real-time recognition of chemical and biological weapons using infrared spectroscopy.

From Wednesday, Dec. 26 through Tuesday, Jan. 1, viewers can learn more about Extreme 2001 from Liz McCliment, a graduate student in the College of Marine Studies, and from Jan. 2-8, they can find out more about the detection platform from John Rabolt, chairperson of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
