B&E welcomes new faculty and staff
Many new faces can be seen in the College this fall, as we welcome the following new faculty and staff:
FACULTY
Four new assistant professors joined the Department of Accounting and MIS.
Thomas J. Hofferd (Ph.D. in accounting with a minor in management of information systems, University of Central Florida) was previously an assistant professor of accounting at Seattle University. A CPA, he also has extensive industry experience.
Mark A. Serva (Ph.D. in management of information systems, University of Texas at Austin) comes to us from Baylor University, where he was an assistant professor of information systems. His interests include decision theory and research methods.
Winifred D. Scott (Ph.D. in accounting, Florida State University) is also a CPA. Her research interests include financial and managerial accounting, capital markets and earnings management and compensation.
Uma K. Velury (Ph.D. in accounting, University of South Carolina) has several research interests, including financial reporting, capital markets and voluntary disclosures.
The Department of Business Administration welcomes three new faculty.
Anthony Townsend (Ph.D., Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University) joins us as an assistant professor of information technology in management. He was formerly on the faculty at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and has published work in Communications of the ACM and many other journals.
Karl Aquino (Ph.D., Northwestern University) is an assistant professor of organizational behavior. Formerly on the faculty at Georgia State University, he has published work in the Academy of Management Journal and many other journals.
Hemant Kher (Ph.D., University of South Carolina) joins the faculty as assistant professor of IT in operations management. Formerly on the faculty at South Carolina, he has published articles in Decision Sciences and numerous other journals.
The Department of Economics welcomes Ravindra Yatawara, (Ph.D., Columbia University) as an assistant professor. Yatawara's areas of special interest include development and economic growth, international trade and finance, macroeconomics and political economy.
The Finance Department adds two faculty members this fall.
Jay Coughenour (Ph.D., Arizona State University) joins the faculty as an assistant professor of finance after several years at both the University of Massachusetts-Boston and the University of Pittsburgh. His research interests include financial markets, market microstructure and derivatives. He has published articles in the Journal of Finance and the Journal of Derivatives.
Terry L. Campbell II (Ph.D., Pennsylvania State University) is an assistant professor of finance. He has worked with an international consulting firm that conducts executive education programs throughout Europe and Asia. His teaching and research interests are in the areas of corporate finance, corporate governance and international finance.
STAFF
Barbara Barnett joins the College as a staff assistant. She was formerly with the Office of University Development.
Crystal Bradley joins the MBA office as a senior secretary. She previously worked in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures.
Christopher Clement joins the College as a campus information technology associate. Previously, he worked at the American Philosophical Society.
Gloria Diodato is project director for information technology. Prior to joining the University, she was an assistant vice president in the Marketing Planning and Brand Management Division at Wilmington Trust. Gloria is also an alumna of the University's Executive MBA program.
Lori Halsey joins the Department of Economics as a senior secretary. She was previously employed by Caldwell Temporary Services.
