Sharon Dorr, assistant director of alumni relations, has been named director of alumni and University relations. "Sharon is an asset to and a valued member of our alumni and development team, and she richly deserves this promotion," Robert R. Davis, vice president for University development and alumni relations, said.
"I look forward to continuing to work closely with her in the years ahead. Her creativity, energy and dedication are much in evidence in the successful programs she runs for alumni and friends of our University," he said.
Assistant director since 1997, Dorr has been responsible for the development and stewardship of the University's alumni club program, in coordination with volunteers of area clubs across the country. She also has played a major role in organizing such University events as Homecoming, Spring Reunion, class reunions and various alumni recognition programs, including the Alumni Wall of Fame and the Presidential Citation Awards. From 1994-97, she was alumni associate in the office.
Dorr was in the UD admissions office from 1989-94, serving as admissions officer and later assistant director. During the 1993-94 year, she participated in a one-year job exchange with the senior director of enrollment management within the admissions office.
Before joining UD, she was assistant director of admissions at Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, W.Va., for three years.
A graduate of Gettysburg College, she has completed graduate work at UD.
