In Memoriam -- Lester W. Chadwick
Lester W. Chadwick, an associate professor of accounting at the University of Delaware, died Nov. 18, 1998.
Prof. Chadwick joined the University accounting faculty in 1971 and was a recipient of the department's Outstanding Teacher Award. He was known for his dedication to his students, his generous and unassuming nature and his warmth and humor. Every year, he and his wife, Melanie, shared their Thanksgiving dinner with students who had nowhere else to celebrate the holiday.
Prof. Chadwick earned his doctorate in business administration from Syracuse University. He was a visiting professor at Indiana University and a faculty tax fellow at Price Waterhouse. Prof. Chadwick was a member of numerous professional and honor societies.
In his memory, the University has established the Lester W. Chadwick Accounting Scholarship, an endowed fund that will be used to provide annual undergraduate scholarships to students in the Department of Accounting and MIS. The scholarships will be awarded based on financial need to students who are committed to excellence in the field of accounting.
